I saw people doing this in the "Currently Eating" and "Today I" threads, so I figured it deserved a thread of its own.
Some recent things I've made:
Omelette with spinach, red bell peppers, onions and some Mexican cheese that I can't remember the name of

Chopped spinach and beet leaves with candied walnuts and a berry vinegarette thing my friend whipped up

Rice and grilled chicken topped with quail egg and served with steamed green beans
http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/ll291/labombe0101/food7.jpg
Grilled cactus, onion, tomato and serrano chile with a little bit of monterey jack cheese
http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/ll291/labombe0101/food4.jpg
The same thing as above, just with a quesadilla instead
http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/ll291/labombe0101/food2.jpg
A taco. Note: this is what an actual Mexican taco looks like. Any other type you see is Americanized.

That sounds like some great food. I've been busy lately and haven't had much time to cook. Made devilled eggs for the kids tonight before they went to their Wednesday lessons. (I am a big fan of eggs for kids, they are so nutritious and filling.) Last night was spaghetti with sweet potatoes hidden in the sauce. Tomorrow, meatloaf and some greens. I plan on making banana bread and lasagne before the end of the week.

I'm trying out this recipe tonight:

My kids have been eating a lot of crap lately and this seemed semi-nutritious.

Türkü, can you please post your recipe for asure? It looks intriguing.
Asure is one of those deserts that you don't really have a proper recipe for. You can read more about asure here (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ashure). Also, it's not a very fancy desert either. It's just a bunch things throwen together in one pot. :p
But I can give you mine though.
1.5 cup grains (the thing you see in the pot in the picture are grains)
1.5 cup white beans
1 cup chickpeas
1 cup chopped hazelnuts
1 cup of granulated sugar
Vanilla sugar or vanilla extract
About 1.5 cup dried fruits (just pick your favorites). I used:
Apples
Apricots
Pear
Plums
Raisins
And then all sorts of nuts, fruits (pomegrate is a must though) to decorate.
Now comes the complicated part. The white beans we Turks use are dried. So you need to leave them in water for about 12 hours to get them soft (just in cold water, no need for simmering). But I don't know what kind of white beans they use where you are from.. And then there are several kinds of grains. Some of them can be used right away, others need to be left in water too for a long time. Anyway, the point is that the grains, white beans and chickpeas need to be 'al dente' before they can be used. If you got that, then you can basically put all these ingredients together in one pot, put some water in the pot (just enough to cover the ingredients) and let it boil untill it reached a good consistency. If you like thick pudding-like asure, then let it simmer/boil for about one hour (you can add some corn starch too, I usually do ad a little bit), if you like watery asure, then don't add any corn starch and let it simmer/boil for around a half hour/30 minutes. When the asure is ready, poor it in desert glasses and let it cool for a few hours. Don't forget to decorete!
But you know, there are so many kinds of asure. I am sure that you can find a lot of recipes and information on the internet so do some research before you start making one. Maybe you like other recipes better. :)

I didn´t make pictures, but I roasted three quails in rosmarin and olive oil. Then I added white wine to the fluid in the pan, took some spices and cream and made a delicious sauce out of it. Fresh baguette accompanied the simple, but truly delicious meal. :) I forgot to add garlic, though. Still one of the best meals I ever ate. :D

Just had roe deer (I shot it on Tuesday) heart & kidneys with fresh breed.
1. Cut heart and kidney in little slices, also cut some garlic and onion.
2. Roast everything in olive oil - high temperature, short roasting.
3. Add pepper, salt, mediterranean herbs.
4. Add some Merlot red wine
5. Add mashed tomatoes and cook it again, add some beef powder for the taste.
Voila, very delicious meal is ready. :)
Now drinking a cool coffee latte. After spicy food I need something sweet, used to that since early childhood.

In Lazio they also cook heart + guts and other discards of animals in the same identical manner, except for the tomatoes and the beef powder. It is called "coratella". It's very good!

A warmer than normal winter weather has brought us both asparagus and strawberries, with the strawberries being about 3 weeks early. No matter as I love these two South Jersey favourites seperately or together. Simple is the best way to go in preperation. Cooking the "Jersey Grass" as it's known locally need no more than a sautee pan, some olive oil and salt and fresh cracked black pepper. Heat the oil for a few minutes, toss in the aspargus that you trimmed up the bottoms on, sprinkle with salt and pepper, toss, then cover. Watch for the grass to turn shade of green, remove from pan and serve. Steaming is another way to cook them if you're going to use a recipe like the sauce below. Same rules apply, cook only until the green turns shades. I can not stress the "Do not overcook it" bit enough. It should be slightly al dente for both flavour and nutrient reasons.
Strawberries only need washing then top them to remove leaves. Eat plain, with a sprinkle of a sweetner, honey or with some home made whipped cream.
To combine berries with the Jersey grass I put them in a stainless pot, crush them, add some sweetner (I use stevia), a short squirt of lemon juice then gently cook for about 5 minutes stirring all the while until it becomes like a chunky glaze. Lay out steamed asparagus then spoon strawberry glaze over to desired amount.

My maid/cook maid it with a recipe found on the internet. She made a lamb Korma using the same method and it turned out great, so I thought I´d ask her try another Indian food recipe. It wasn´t that bad, just missing a few key ingredients. I´m a disaster in the kitchen but as it turns out not too bad at elaborating recipes.

Now that you mention it, yes.... But for some reason I only eat Sauerkraut with Schupfnudeln + Speck or with Schlachtplatte and potato puree.
Did you know that in French :D Alsace there is probably more Sauerkraut than in any German region? :D Many francophile Alsaciennes call it "choucroute", but that doesn´t change how Germanic it is. :D:D
Oh, and that´s why I am here. I just ate a big bowl of strawberries from grandma´s garden, very delicious. I earned almost 2kgs the last three days. :thumb001: We also made yummy strawberry milk from them.

Ingredients:
whole baby clams
small scallops
whole baby oysters
shrimp
potatoes
collard greens
green onions
mushrooms
bok choy
white wine
half n half
butter
clam juice
liberal amounts of salt, pepper, garlic, and thyme leaves.
It's better than any chowder I've ever had....and I created the recipe myself:)

I used this one as a base:

Only added chopped onion, garlic, dill sprays and celery leaves. And since we don't have ready pickling spice I used what I was able to find in the store.

Get a little thyme, pepper, 2 pieces of garlic, olive oil and salt, mash em together sorta pestle and mortar action, boil some spaghetti, add this mixture to it and voila, you got this recipe I don't even know what it's damn name is, but it's good and easy to cook.

I think most places just use boiled eggs and vinegar. Dill and other spices are usually added to other pickles, such as 'Gherkins'!
When 'Pickling' onions, you have to use small baby sized ones.

Me adding the stuff which is not in the original recipe is Bulgarianizing it a bit, drawing on what I know of our own pickling methods.

That looks nice.
The problem with Italian food, however, is that everything is seemingly made with wheat/gluten which is an unnatural addition to our diets.
Italians have the highest rate of gluten intolerance in the world because of this.
I get lots of gluten free rice pasta's and gnocchi made from potatoes, but I still haven't found one decent tasting gluten free pizza:(

Is cheese not a common ingredient in Greek cuisine? Do you have some comparable cheese dishes?
I must admit, they are tasty. In my region, we have a long tradition of making a special cheese called "skuta". It has a very specific taste, kinda sour and very "light". It's perfect for cakes!

Some foods look disgusting, or at least the amateur pictures taken do. I just lost my appetite for ever.
Any way.
