Obvious from the result and distance to Bedouin population. Only kits that can get 100 in a single category are the reference kits themselves.

Maybe Bedouins are the reference point for SW Asian in these calculators. They are even used as a modern Basal Eurasian-rich example by professionals.

This is one of the kit that was used for Red_Sea, it should be modern, however Bedouins have diverse sub groups. This also shows each percent of Red_Sea have about 5% SSA (more eastern SSA) seeing the K7 score.

East African is SSA from a geography point of view but genetically it's like half-SSA if I'm not mistaken.

We were discussing it with Leto, it's hard to tell but seeing even Pygmies get some E.Africa and they are considered 100% SSA, i think it's just a eastern variant of SS, but could be closer to Eurasians nonetheless. For example horners don't get 100% East African, if it was half they would, even the most SSA influenced Eastern African groups (70% or so at low K)

Yeah but a Somali for example is far from Pygmies and towards Eurasia and they are known for having Caucasoid influence. I don't know where the East African sample is based though, maybe the more Northeast you go at the Horn, the higher it gets.

Yea that's well known Somali in general (not all) are half Eurasian, which is reflected in K15 as they get some East_Med, Red_Sea, and then some East African, so it appears almost fully SSA, at least 75%.

Ok, I thought they would be like part East, part West African and then some East Med etc.

I think it's very possibly the case, the substructures inside the SSA is not studied yet, so at this point admixture can just tell how similar they are, obviously they have a very similar thing in common but with something different as well. It could date to ancient times, and some difference in the archaics inputs,..

We are very spoiled in Europe with tons of modern and ancient samples now, but even East Asians are understudied. It's like on 23andme when you get 100% European, applied to Africans and Asians, there is likely way more into that than it seems.

It's a good example, close to half Eurasian, half SSA (a bit more). If there is anything else except SSA in this "E.African" it's really not much since we know Somali and Oromo are around that 50% SSA mark, but more the Yoruba type, rather than the red element related to Namibia and Botsanawa. Yet both are ultimately West Africans.

Also it's same SSA type (orange) of Bedouins and N.Africans, the latter being for sure around 20% SSA.

Sorry to bump this thread with a possibly stupid question, but if this Bedouin is 100% Red Sea then where does the East Med component in modern day Bedouins and Saudis come from??

Bump for answer to dumb question. Is there an ancient sample that gets 100% East Med on Eurogenes?

Most likely the Red Sea component is based on that sample. Obviously in reality they aren't "100 percent Red Sea".
