"Só perde boi, quem tem boiada, pouco prejuizo é lucro"

It's a take on a famous proverb of the Portuguese language. It means roughly, "Losing the odd ox, is for those who already have a herd" or "Only those who already have a herd have the privelege to lose the odd ox." and "Don't sweat the small things, a small loss is still a profit" it makes more sense in Portuguese tbh.

"Bobby, don't stick your finger in the pencil sharpener!" - they said that to me when I was 3 years old, and it's stuck with me for the last 17 years.

My Oma said if someone gossips to you, they also gossip about you...If they tell you other peoples business, they do the same behind your back. I've been reminded about it a lot in my life already.

My father always told me being late for a meeting or job is disrespectful because you're essentially telling the other person their time isn't as important and you're too irresponsible to manage your own.

1) Do everything to win fights.
2) Stand for your opinion.
3) Apologize only when you are really wrong.
4) Use condoms.
5) If someone speaks bad about people he otherwise acts as a friend of behind their back to you, he also speaks bad about you behind your back to these and other people.
My parents are really objective and tolerant (in the good sense; not modern liberal shit) people and I've learnt a lot from them. With age they learnt some things from me, too.

If I think about my father's advice, a few things come immediately to mind..

- Don't lie.

- Stand up to the bully, never cower.

- Don't quit.

- Do unto others as you would have them do unto you (golden rule).

Dont know if that counts, but my Großvater used to tell me, that a mans grandeur is always measured by the number of his enemies. Couldnt be more true than that.

Thought of this quote again when I saw the topic.

Tbh it’s helped me keep my head above water when I wanted to give up and give in on very difficult situations.

1. Always be transparent and objective when you seek something for you.

2. Never waste good opportunities.

3. Always stay with your family and do everything to preserve your true friendships 'cause they will always be on your side and help you when you need it.

Teaching your kids that they should hide things about themselves for fear of peer backlash is how you make them insecure
