Yeah, Samba is one of the defining traits of our national character, the music (I don't like funk though) is one of my favourite things about Brazil.

Funk is not Brazilian, its Americanized. Samba was recognized as Brazilian culture by Getúlio Vargas. Brazilians recognize samba but not funk.

Quando vivia no Brasil, por exemplo, fazia muita música em inglês e agora, talvez por essa saudade que sinto do meu país e de querer afirmar, perante mim própria, essa identidade brasileira, este disco tem muitas mais referências do samba e da bossa-nova. É engraçado, porque desde que vivo em Lisboa sinto-me muito mais brasileira e isso percebe-se muito bem no novo disco.

I like old Funk like Earth Wind & Fire, Dazz Band, Kool & The Gang, The Gap Band etc...

Last time I was in Provence they were playing Elis Regina & Tom Jobin at the pool party, you'll usually see that sort of music in the more swanky places in the Mediterranean, the gringos like it a lot.
