Some 300 Cossack horsemen are to be deployed in a World Cup city to stop members of the LGBT community from 'kissing'.
The force will line up alongside police in Rostov-on-Don which hosts qualifying games involving Brazil, Switzerland, Uruguay, South Korea, Mexico and Saudi Arabia.
The Cossacks vow to demand police action if they see kissing except between men and women.
But they promise not to use their traditional 'whips' on transgressors, and instead to alert police to act against same sex kissing.
Cossack leader Oleg Barannikov said: 'We will draw police attention to that, and it will be their issue.
