View Full Version : Are Blue-eyed and Green-eyed non-Europeans related to Europeans?

I remember this member (https://www.theapricity.com/forum/member.php?13444) claimed that every blue-eyed person has European ancestry. So is it true? Are blue-eyed and green-eyed non-Europeans related to Europeans?

For example, if an Arab has blue eyes and an Afghan has green eyes, do they have significant European admixture?

See

Blue-eyed humans have a single, common ancestor (https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2008/01/080130170343.htm)

From Wikipedia

The same DNA sequence in the region of the OCA2 gene among blue-eyed people suggests they may have a single common ancestor.

As of 2016, the earliest light-pigmented and blue-eyed remains of Homo Sapiens were found in 7,700 years old Mesolithic hunter-gatherers from Motala, Sweden.

Green eyes probably result from the interaction of multiple variants within the OCA2 and other genes. They were present in south Siberia during the Bronze Age. They are most common in Northern, Western and Central Europe.[65][66] In Ireland and Scotland 14% of people have brown eyes and 86% have either blue or green eyes,[40] In Iceland, 89% of women and 87% of men have either blue or green eye color.[67] A study of Icelandic and Dutch adults found green eyes to be much more prevalent in women than in men.[68] Among European Americans, green eyes are most common among those of recent Celtic and Germanic ancestry, about 16%.[citation needed] 37.2% of Italians from Verona and 56% of Slovenes have blue/green eyes.[69][70]

No, of course! Also every blond/red haired and coloured eyed person is not European

No.

Then debunk it by providing scientific articles.

There might be some genetic connection there from thousands of years ago if blue eye are only native to Europe then most likely then but that is only a small bit of DNA from a long time ago.

I think having caucasian ancestors, yes but not necessarily europeans.. but blue eyes can also come from genetic disorder

He is right. Green is of brown origins. But its still most common in Europe but its not of European origins neccessarily only blue is of that single human ancestor.

Only blue eyes are of that single common ancestor. Not green.

Generally yes in Caucasoids.

Indeed. Around the black sea region. My grandfather(RIP) had blue eyes.

Yes but the person with the oldest verified blue eyes was dark skinned (not as an african ofc but still) and he had caucasoid features , he lived in the coast of the black sea which is near the frontier of Europe (the Ural mountains) , so he looks nothing like a modern European , in other words this ancestor is found in all populations because his tribe and descendants migrated throught the world , I even heard the theory that he was a proto Caucasian and that his tribe gave birth to the caucasian race while others say Proto Indo Europeans but we simply can't know for sure , all we can know for the moment is yes they are related to europeans like non light eyed Caucasians but not descended from them because the first group to have a large percentage of blue eyes was not in any way European (expect for living in Europe) .

No, because blue eyes are not European in origin, it cames from central asia or siberia.
