Alpine + Atlantid influence.
That is what I think too. I think he has a very western look, and can fit anywhere in the Western half of Europe, from Iberia to Scandinavia (despite pigmentation).

Norway has the mountains that served as a refuge for the ancient Med-ish people (Berid, Atlanto-Med, Tydal...) that once inhabitated Scandinavia (and much of Europe) but fled due to the Hallstatt invasions from the Danube. This people were completely replaced by the Nordids in the much more flat territories of Sweden/Finland/Denmark. The same fate had the Mesolithic people that sought refuge in the Arctic Circle and became today's Sami/Lapps, and the Cro-Magnon that ultimately interbred with the Nordids creating the Tronder type in Coastal Norway.

As for Iceland, the Vikings imported many slaves from Ireland, where dark-haired Berid types are not uncommon.

It always amuses me the way people think that people that are dark haired or that they perceive as exotic have different ancestry than the rest of their countrymen. :picard1:

dunno for Norway but in regions that have serious both southern and northern influence it's not uncommon at all to see brothers or sisters one that looks very Mediterranean, even olive skinned and one that is totally blonde, if they have parents of these different types or recent ancestry like this. me and my brother are such an example, I tan in summer and can probably even pass as Gypsy, while he looks totally (Northeast)European and cannot tan, only burns. because I took my dad's skin type and eye colour while he took my mom's
