View Full Version : Are alpinids a mixture of lappids and armenoids?
i don't believe in it but at least it is what wikipedia says:
"The term "Alpine" (H. Alpinus) has historically been given to denote a physical type within the Caucasian race, first defined by William Z. Ripley (1899), but originally proposed by Vacher de Lapouge. It is equivalent to Joseph Deniker's "Occidental" or "Cevenole" subrace[5][6] and Jan Czekanowski identified it, as of the Lappanoid race which means that Alpines are a mixture of Lappanoid and Armenoid. "
I know that wikipedia is not a very trustable source but i find it interesting because there are really some physical similarity betwenn alpinids and lappids

I think that in early taxonomy (late xix century)
There wasn’t much distinction between Brachy types.
In Ripley (Troe) Dinaric is not mentioned and it falls under “Alpine”
I wouldn’t worry about.

I think that Sami/Lappish traits can be commonly found in individuals in Europe, but indon’t Think is due to a previous Sami expansion but maybe to a similar evolutionary process.
Current Sami are mixed with Scando, Finns
And Siberian peoples.

That's just Czekanowski's system, it's kinda weird.
