Second one, of course. And even the second one belongs to the darker side of the Italian phenotype spectrum.

Is a joke to pretend that the exotic/olive skinned one is average for Italy.

I laugh at the stereotype of majority of south Euros being exotic and swarthy.

In Italy as in all of southern Europe, sunny hours are very strong and it is normal for Mediterranean people to have olive skin, it is called survival.

Cool story

Today I learnt that southern European countries are almost tropical lands where the weather is very warm and sunny all year round, and most people in there are very exotic and swarthy, up to the point of standing out, individually, for their "very ethnic" look in the rest of Europe :D

In the South of Europe it is a long time Sun and the Sun produces that the skin darkens

Of course, you know about southern European climate and phenotypes better than myself, having lived in Spain, and having seen/met many Spanish, Portuguese and Italian immigrants and their offspring back in Venezuela.

Have a good one, bro

Yes, but not up to the point of people in there being majority olive skinned and much darker than all other Europeans, as you imply.

Southern European countries also have four seasons, and even cold and snowy winters in North and Central Italy, most Inner Spain and Portugal, and Northern continental Greece. You're not talking about almost tropical places.

That those countries received more sun radiation (during part of the year, not all year round) only implies that a large segment of their populations developed a better ability to tan when exposed to strong sun radiation, but not to look exotic/ethnic for European standards.
