Genesis sucks, its been out for ages and still has low snp coverage for kits, no new calcs, Pca doesnt even work for the calcs its been under development for ages. No option to connect family trees to kits or look at them. Whos ever running the site isnt doing anything new with it.

I didn't see how it was anything different from the old one. I only use regular gedmatch

I was able to download my 23andme v5 raw data onto the regular Gedmatch and I get basically identical results with Genesis.

Yup, it's basically the same for both for me too.

I agree that Genesis is definitely a downgrade. But tbh the whole of GEDMatch is starting to look dissapointing to me. Most of the calculators seem inaccurate in my case, and it seems the major testing companies like 23andme and AncestryDNA have released major updates recently. Compared to GEDmatch, I don't think we've gotten a new calculator (at least the more popular ones like Eurogenes, Dodecad, MDLP, etc) in years now. I'm really anxious for the new AncestryDNA update so I can migrate over there.

I was able to download my 23andme V5 on regular gedmatch too. The SNP's are very low though. Some calculators are way off. K13 and puntDNAL is most accurate for me, while others are hit or miss. I don't like how they fill in the blanks with populations I'm not even close too because this doesn't help at all.... I've checked the reference sheets.

I wonder if I did ancestryDNA if the results would be much different?

yea I have no idea why they call it "genesis" its no different from the old one, just slightly crappier. Some of the guys on these forums have collected so many samples for different regions and countries they need to update their whole database and populations for the calcs or just make new ones, its not that difficult. The crappy pca button they have for each calc has been under development for ages, its sorta works for the k13 calc but it isnt informative and has graphics from the original nintendo. Idk whose running the site but they should really do something with it.

Same here. What's supposed to be the difference between the regular gedmatch and genesis.

It was supposed to be an alternative for those who got tested with 23andme v5, but you can upload raw data from any of the major companies to Genesis. I have one Assyrian from 23andme who's basically my second cousin and his results are pretty fucked on Genesis with the v5 chip. Mine only a bit fucked up in comparision with the Assyrian average. But then again I got tested with MyHeritage too and got almost identical results on Gedmatch as with my 23andme v5 data, pretty confused tbh.

its supposed to be an alternate site where you can upload various types of raw data files and basically its just supposed to be the new version of gedmatch with more innovations. Pretty much is in no way different, even has less features I would say and the little they claim to be doing with it takes them so long its like whats the point of the dumb site, its just a disappointment.

I'm disappointed by the V5 chip too. I have twice the SNPs missing than a friend of mine who's been tested with the V4 chip.

19 ancestral populations
131401 total SNPs
0 flipped SNPs
12052 heterozygous SNPs
24 no-calls
96829 absent SNPs
0.262920 genotype rate
mode genomewide

96853 SNPs missing (no-call or absent)

Which test do you guys recommend for Gedmatch/R calculators?

yea its the same for my living dna kit, though I thought they were going get better and be able to read more snps from the V5 and living dna kits, though it seems they arent, they are just satisfied with half-assing it, total dissapointment.

you are hungarian? we share the same y-dna so we are cousins. you mind sharing your gedmatch kit with me? maybe we are related.

I was actually curious about that. So the V4 used more SNP's?

I'm curious if the difference would be much different for me. I may try ancestryDNA.

However, the autosomal information 23andme gave me is very accurate. It's only the raw data that may be an issue.

V4 doesnt use more snps but Genesis reads much fewer snps for V5 than it does for v4 thats why I said genesis sucks
