I don't think it is necessary Levantine, unless you also classify the 'native' inland people of Sicily as Levantines too.

Both Messina and the inland province are closer to Cypriots than all the others and not Palermo which actually received more Phoenician settlement.

Where do you think the native Sicilians originated from? Messina and the inland are clearly more autochthonous than other areas of the island

Much of Messina and Caltanissetta are very rural and never were large population centers. The same is true for the eastern part of Palermo which is genetically similar to them. The higher population centers in Sicily are on the coasts.

I do not know honestly what the native Sicilians were like but my guess is a mixture of Sardinian-like and Near Eastern elements with very low to nonexistent North European.

Either way what is clear is the person from Syracuse is removed enough from all the other results that the Lebanese do not even come up in their top 20, and they are closer to mainland Greeks and central Italians than to Crete.

That person from Palermo is close to the one from Caltanissetta -- I do not see any major difference except the one from Caltanissetta is a tiny bit more Near Eastern. For whatever reason a lot of Palermitans aren't any closer to Cypriots but do have a strong Levantine element due to disproportionately high SW Asian/North African, see below:

Well the Sikels are likely the ancestors of the MEssinians since the eastern part of the island, and they came from South Italy, which means that there was another migration alongside or before the Neolithic Anatolians that gave them their 'Sardinian' dna.

Maybe the Sicels and Sikanoi were derived from another Anatolian people more akin to the Anatolians/Near Easterners that inhabited Cyprus? Otherwise I can't see how there is that strong of a connection between those two peoples. If it was Levantine input in the way we often consider it, Sikeliot, it doesn't make sense. Messinians and Calabrians are almost identical, and neither areas were subject to Levantine rule for long enough time to change the gene pool, especially Calabria

We will need ancient Sicilian DNA from all over the island to know for sure but my best guess is that Trapani, Syracuse, and Apulia have more recent admixture from other parts of Europe, while places like Messina, Calabria, Caltansisetta, Palermo etc. have the least.

Looked up haplogroups of Calabrians and the most prominent is G. Is that the same in Messina? If so it stands to reason that these populations are close to Cypriots not because of Levantine input but because of their high input from the Caucasus which is older than the Neolithic expansion (I think)

Haplogroup G is high in central Sicily though.

Haplogroup G existed in Ancient Greeks too

In the Mainland its maybe less now and not very common, don't know

But the thing i know is that kleenex a full Mainlander from Arcadia is G2a so far for Arcadians being

G2 was at the very beginning of the neolithic expansion. In Greece at least around 7000 BC.

Is the Syracusan result close to your own? The Messina/Palermo/Caltanissetta ones would not be though.

I don't know. I do know it is common in inland Sicily so it might have been present among the Sicanians.

Ok not that similar, but closer to one another than you would be to someone from Caltanissetta or Messina.
