My grandpa was born in a log cabin in the hills of eastern Kentucky (Appalachia region).
His ancestors have been Americans since before it was a country!

He isn’t too close to any population. His Atlantic and North Sea are very high, but he also has random things like Red Sea, and some African DNA (SSA, NE African)

Awesome. Thanks for posting.That SSA is definitely above noise levels. That and the middle eastern might explain his distances in part, but it's nothing too abnormal.
I am half Appalachian you could say. My dad's side is all from West Virginia. Here are mine from if you wish to compare.

If he's willing to do some more spitting, I would consider going with ancestry. Their raw data is better for gedmatch and his results with them might be more typical.

Then his results mean nothing. 29k SNP:s used is really really low. Maybe test him with Ancestry/FTDNA
