Hi there,

Recently did the AncestryDNA test and uploaded my results to GedMatch, I wanted to share my results with the community here to perhaps gather some more information on my genealogy.

Background on myself I’m an Ethnic Cham Albanian my family on both sides is from the Epirus region of northern Greece.

Here are my results.

That's what I would have guessed (I would have thought Southern Albanian and/or Epirus). You're actually pretty close to me (Greek Peloponnese) but you actually have less Baltic on K!3. Southern Albanians, Epirotes, Peloponnesians (I'm not sure about Rumeli) are relatively close.

You are predicted as being J2a, which is relatively rare amongst Albanians but high amongst Greeks.

And Southern Italians.

You plot closer to Sicilians than most mainland Greeks do. I wonder why. Maybe the low Baltic.

Could you post dodecad k12b?

J2a isn't rare in Albania.

I’m not sure, as far as I know my whole family are Albanians from Epirus. I’ve always been mistaken for Greek and Italian but never Albanian. I’m assuming that the three races are very closely related with each other.

Interesting how where you able to come to this conclusion with my Dodecad results? I’ve been having a hard time interperating them myself.

Very sexy results :thumb001:

Can you also post your genetic communities from AncestryDNA?

That option unfortunately was never made available for my account.

They are related but different regions have other inputs that create their clusters (i.e. stronger Near Eastern in Aegean islanders and southern Italians, more Slavic input around Thessaloniki, the impact of Pontic Greeks settling in northern Greece, etc).

I have not yet figured out Albanian genetic variation, though. It would seem to me as if southern Albania is actually closest to Epirus and Peloponnese, but less Slavic than Greek Macedonians/Thessalians/Thracians.

I see beside your Ancestry column you have "Italic, Hellenic, Slavic, Iberian, West African" and "Greco-Roman" for Meta-Ethnicity.

If its possible, How can I go about plotting my Ancestry this way?

Yes seems like we all plot very close together, would be very interesting to get some more results from Cham Albanians and Greek Epiriotes to see how closely we plot together.

Interesting. If I read the Morley results right, you seem to belong to J2a M92. Here are some maps of how it is distributed in the region:
