I noticed that many of German Nazis after the fall of the Third Reich fled to Argentina. What made the country so special among Nazis?

Beat me to it. Argentina supported Nazi Germany during the war. So did many South American countries.

Actually they were fairly neutral during the war, I believe. Some thousands of Argentines even volunteered to fight for the Allies. Most of South America was either "neutral" or supporting the Allies.

Perón seized power right after the war, not during it. I really can't think of any South American country which supported the Axis during the war.

I think it had more to do with German minority in Argentina. Which would offer more possibilities to blend in and become less noted.

I have suspicions that my stepfather's father was one of those Germans.

There were also many Nazis hiding in Paraguay and Brazil.
