View Full Version : What's the best region of your country?

For England, I think, its spiritual heart is Wiltshire, the area around Stonehenge. This, I assume, is what everyone thinks of, when they think of rural England.

From the places I've been to I'd say Makati and Bonifacio Global City

Maybe Subic if you want more of that fresh air and breathableness

One of the richest areas in the entire United States is just the town over from where I grew up!

Mine is very middle class, but this one is where insanely rich multi-millionaires live.

Indian Hill!

Bloomberg.com says its the 12th richest place in the USA.

Country: Brazil
Best region: South (specially the states of Santa Catarina - my state - and Rio Grande do Sul
Why: High IDH; pred euro about culture; but, I confess, I would love to born in Gaucho cultural areas (Mainly in Rio Grande do Sul, too in south Brazil) - because they are very originals and proud people and I love barbecue too.

UK: There are many magnificent places, Berkshire, Hampshire, Wilts, Oxon etc... come to mind, but really any place away from "multiculti" is heavenly.

Brazil: São Paulo and the three southern states.

Spain: Again, great country all over, but Costa Blanca, Alicante comes to mind as possibly my favourite, followed by Asturias and Madrid.

Very interesting. Los Altos Hills and Atherton are still the two richest places in the United States. I have a family member from Ohio but he moved to California during the dot com boom ('00), 'cause of a job offer from Oracle.

California in general is just crazy expensive.

California exodus gathers strength, as home prices continue upward march

Those migration patterns are shaped by socioeconomics. Most people leaving the state earn less than $30,000 per year, even as those who can afford higher housing costs are still arriving. As the report noted, California was also a net importer of highly skilled professionals from the information, professional and technical services industries, as well as in arts and entertainment. On the other hand, California saw the largest exodus of workers in accommodation, construction, manufacturing and retail industries.

Tasmania, I am biased but I like it's remote seclusion and being an Island is nice. The weather there is much cooler than the rest of Australia which is great and on average it is much greener. Only negative is I heard they can get freezing winds from Antarctica.https://i.pinimg.com/originals/23/61/29/2361291ab8817d298dfd921237a50a7a.jpg

Slavonia. It may not be the best (ruined by war, now poor-used to be richest in the past, depopulated), but I love the plain and it's people, their music, their joy of life, foods and traditions. In my opinion Slavonian Croats are best Croats.

It's difficult for Italy

economically the better of region is the Milan Area

For Quality of life i'm sure Veneto beats every other one

Personally i'd happily live in a small rural village somewhere in Central Italy (less alien to me than other places)

As for us: Brabant. But I'm far from neutral. Utrecht is o.k but Brabant is where civilization can be found.

This is a hard one. The Northern coastline of the North Island is my favourite place to be but the central Plateau with its volcanic region and mountains is also a favourite haunt. Between the two main islands, I'd say the South Island has the edge in beauty though.

Good question.
Economically - Moscow and St. Petersburg.
Culturally - North and North-West regions (Pskov, Vologda, Novgorod, Yaroslavl, Kostroma).
Climatically - the Crimea (especially the South Coast) and the Black Sea coast near Sochi.

Difficult question.
It depends wheter you are looking for place to live or to stay there , as a tourist.
It also depends whether you wish to live in the city or at country.
Perhaps later I will ellaborate more about this topic.

Prague (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prague)- capital city, economically richest, highest salaries in the country (but living there is quiet expensive, too),
no unemployment, the richest cultural life in the country, number of theatres, museums, clubs etc. is almost endless.
Architectonical treasure, making unique ancient atmosphere.
If some foreign pop stars decided to have just one concert in our country, in 90 per cent cases is one at Prague, only.
Prague has several times highest number of ex-pats from the whole world living there, than the rest of the country,
and there is not problem to comunicate in English.

But if you dont prefer big cities, and wish to live in the quiet country, there are alot of posibilities, because each region
has something unique what you will like:
Mountains good for hiking and skiing, attractive rocks, caves, fertile lowlands, etc.
Whole country is spotted by numerous castles and chatauex, historical towns and another landmarks.

If I had to mention just one region, it will be south-eastern part of Moravia, nicknamed
Moravian Slovakia (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moravian_Slovakia).

This area is known for its wine culture and unique folk architecture.
People living there are different than in the rest of country: more warm,
more conservative and religious - resembles rather their neighbours Slovaks than Czechs.
They love their land, wine, traditional songs and folk costumes.
The area borders with Slovakia and one is situated also close to Austria and Hungary.
Not only to the Slovakian capital Bratislava but also to Austrian Vienna is pretty closer than to Prague.

PACA, most people want to live there. It's even a problem when doctors choose their assignement because they all tend to choose this region and as a result they are missing doctors elsewhere. I like personally some other regions as much but rationally it has everything, economy, weather, food, and is even close enough to the Alps that you go from beach to skiing in no time.

Pomerania, especially Gdynia. It has actually ranked 1st in the ranking of the best cities to live in Poland some time ago and one of the fastest growing ones economically in the world. It was developed to a thriving port from a small village of fishermen in the 20th century. And it is well managed right now and not too ugly. Plus it has many good restaurants to choose from.

Depends what you're looking for. My favourite city is Halkida (Euboea) and the cities of Crete. Patras used to be good as well, not sure now however, it's been a while since I was there.
