was the easiest method of reversing desertification (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Desertification) on the continent
while making that area arable (a constant goal).

she had made similar remarks
each time she "flew" over the grand cañon (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grand_Canyon).
