View Full Version : What do high-vaulted and low-vaulted mean?

A few days ago, I have said that the people who get classified as East Mediterranid are just Gracile Mediterranid because East Mediterranid phenotype does not exist and the people who are on humanphenotypes cards are just Gracile Mediterranids. Then, I have read in some other topic that Gracile Mediterranid is low-vaulted but East Mediterranid is high vaulted and this is the only but significant difference between them. What do high-vaulted and low-vaulted mean?

It refers to the height of the cranium. Dinaric skulls are, for example, always high-vaulted:

do you know which phenotypes are low-vaulted and which high-vaulted? are Nordids high-vaulted? what about CM?

I guess, Hallstatt Nordid, Cromagnid, Atlantid, Gracile Mediterranid, Alpinid, Arabid, Baskid would be low-vaulted. Dinarid, Armenoid, Turanid, Baltid, Iranid, Pontid and North Pontid, Saharid would be high-vaulted. I think, when you go further from Northern and Western Europe, the types would become higher vaulted but I am not sure.

East Asians and Sub Saharan Africans always looked high vaulted to me.
