Would Iran be considered as Central Asian or considered as South Asian if we divide Asia in to 3?

Would Iran be considered as Central Asian or considered as South Asian if we divide Asia in to 3: Northern Asia, Central Asia, South Asia.

Nah. Central Asia to me means exclusively the Turkic-speaking nations which were under Soviet rule. Even Afghanistan isn't Central Asia. Geographically Iran is Middle Eastern, but culturally when I hear Middle Eastern I think Arab. Persians don't identify so much with that.

Iran is not South Asian for sure. Greater Persia is either peri-European or a subcontinent itself
