Which European population are you most distant from? (Eurogenes K36 mapping)

Which population groups within Europe (excluding Turkey) are you furthest away from, both as a general group and specifically?

It would appear I am most distant to Southern Italians and Greek Islanders as a group with Sardinians and Cypriots being my most distant populations. Secondarily I am most distant to Eastern Finns/Sami/Karelians. Strange thought that I am somewhat closer to Anatolian Turks than to Sardinians, how could that be?

Seems like Basques are a unique population, you are Portuguese and closer to Irish, Scots, Dutch, and North Germans than to Basques. Despite their location in Western Europe, I am closer to Bulgarians, Romanians, and Southern Russians than I am to Basques according to this.

Maybe because it's K=36 and there is a Basque component. In regular PCA plots i'm closer to basques than to irish of course, such as this:

I think Sardinians have the same problem. I think West_Med is based on them. And now that i think of it, Finland has a Finnic component too. They probably score near 100% of their component making them isolated on the program. Just a theory...

Northwest Russia I got only 1 and in Finland I got 3.

Outside of Europe my highest was 71 in Northwest Mexico.

It wasn't me, i found it on google. But i supposed it's other iberian samples mapped, there is a website for mapping eurogenes k15 results on that plot.

A lot of people are gonna be the most distant to Finns cause the Fennoscandia component is extremely drifted. Finns can often times score 80%+ Fennoscandian cause of their genetic drift.

Sardinians with West Med and Basques with the Basque component aswell are quite drifted. But the components themself aren't particularly "foreign" to the rest of Europe.

Nope. Finns have been isolated ... and they have been mixing with other Europeans much much less.
