Based on my DNA, do you think I am more descended from the ancient Germanic tribes, the Ancient Gauls, the Ancient Britons, or perhaps even Picts?

What is your ancestry? Cause you do have a southern shift in comparison to NW Euros, you are more in line with some French or South German regions in terms of the Med components. But at the same time you have slightly higher East Euro/Central Euro for someone mainly from Southern Germany or France. Maybe some East German/Prussian or Austrian ancestry?

I know I have a lot of southern German and western German heritage. I have one grandparent with English ancestors, and one grandparent whose parents were ethnic Germans living in modern day Romania, in a place that was at that time a part of Austria Hungary. Perhaps they are where I get this Central and East Euro component

I also have one great grandparent who was Italian or part Italian

Yep, for sure. This makes sense, I would think you plot somewhere around South/West Germany but slightly more eastern. That would make you Germanic + significant pre-Germanic admix. We don't really know what South Germany/Austria/Switzerland looked like during the Roman era so it's difficult to say whether this Southern shift in comparison to Northern Germans/Dutch people is due to the Celts or other sources.

Since your results show closest affinity to Germans that should already give you an answer to your question. Keep in mind though that the Germans themselvs are partially Celtic and Slavic.

The main reason I was wondering is because many of my ancestors came from areas where German Tribes replaced Celtic ones. Some people even say that western Germany and southern Germany are more Celtic than Germanic

Depending on the test sometimes I actually plot in Belgium because of my British heritage. On other tests I plot in eastern France and western Germany. I think I have high western components like Spanish that pull me back west
