View Full Version : Why is the human lifespan so ridiculously short?

The human life span is not very long at all. In comparison to the animal kingdom, there are other species that outlive us. Shorter than some birds even . Supposing the average lifespan for people in most developed countries, is around 80 years old. That isn't really very long. We make a big deal about those living to be 100 also. I wouldn't mind living up to 200 years! I am almost 40 and I feel I have barely scratched the surface of what I want to do with my life, and have so much left to see , do ,and explore. And yet, I'm already supposedly halfway through? According to the Bible, the average human should live to be about 120 years old. Life goes by fast, so that would be fine with me.

Because who wants to work for 150 years?

We should be in better shape for longer than we are. Most people just seem to disintegrate after 70 or so. It's just sad. We should have substantial energy and be able to put out a lot throughout our lives.

Average lifespan is about 80, more or less, providing you don't eat, smoke or drink too much, or were born with any defects. Until scientists can keep cells repairing themselves without turning into cancer, decay will shred our mortal coils into a putrefying death.

Heaven would be heaven if you're not forced to relive another hell on earth up there.

Biological reasons, human organs are not meant to last for more than 100 years or so, but its also genetical, some live long than others.

I was thinking about that too. But there are Scientists who say we were designed to live past 100, possible to 120 years or more. Genetics do seem to play a part.

To prevent massive overpopulation problems in nature. There needs to be enough food and resources and living spaces for the emerging populations.
Leaves fall from trees and petals wither and disintegrate and crumble and fall from flowers in nature to make way for new ones next season. If nature was stagnant then nothing fresh and new can evolve and grow. There would be no space for the young in nature if the elderly forms of life took all the land and resources if they lived forever. Life is about survival of the fittest and best in competitive nature.
An American man in London I encountered with some friends told people that there's more people alive on the planet today than the amount of people who've ever died in history.
Secondly, human lifespans are long compared to millions of other forms of life and living species, such as sea bunnies for example, who have lifespans ranging from 3 months to 1 year: https://www.theapricity.com/forum/showthread.php?257662-Cute-Sea-Bunnies

Look at this man's expensive but tiny home in China (below.) Their nation is very overpopulated with 1.2 billion people like India (both China and India have more people in each country than all the European nations populations and the US and Canada's populations combined.) Overcrowding and high demands for food, land, and resources affects peoples quality of life.

Human life expectancy is around 78 years, always was, always will be. It's what one should expect considering our size, really.
There will be times when certain events will lower average lifespan temporarily (beginning of agriculture/urbanization, industrial revolution, wars and so on). But the fact that medical technology can artificially lengthen an individual's span by doesn't increase natural life expectancy.

And this is the secular humanist version, which I reject. The population is shrinking, not increasing. Especially for whites.

Life's getting boring once you lose youth, health and more motivation. I'd rather live fast and die fast than live long with no impulses. Our life behind walls and screens stuck in a job place for 8-16 hours a day doesn't have much worth, save a few who can live by trustfund but even their life gets boring once they get used to goods.

And I fully disagree. Most young people don't even know what they want.

Genetic, Stress, health risks, bad habits.. These are the main reasons people don't live long enough as we would be on full potential . Some people are lucky like my grandpa ha was smoking for 30 years, had two hearth attack and he's 85 and working outside the house . Some are less fortunate..

My Daddy is 84. He looks about 15 years younger, but he takes a lot of medications.
