This estimate was posted by a French user in another thread:

200 000 franks for 6 millions gauls at the end of Rome. During the revolution, some revolutionnaries wanted that France was renamed Gaul.

^^^ 200,000 vs. 6 million, so that would give around 3% of Germanic ancestry in France, is this correct?

You can add some normans saxons goths alemannis burgundian, but the frankish element is the most important. As a whole, i would say germanics invasions impact is arround 5 or 6%.. 8/10 % in northern France, 2% in south.

What about Y-DNA haplogroups?

How much R1 do they have?

probably around 40%, and higher on Nortmandy and Northeastern part(borders with Belgium, Germany and Switzerland)

Germanic tribes don't came to France just after the fall of Rome, but before, when in Hallstatt culture, where Celts and Germanics lived together
