What are some that grind your gears or find you encounter on a regular basis?

One I can think of off the top of my head is the whole Ashkenazi Jews=Khazars theory, and/or Ashkenazim=Simply converted local Germans and/or Slavs. Despite all the genetic tests, data, and common sense, you'll still see this stuff surface. Nevermind the fact that they're practically identical to Sephardim. These people never seem to mention that. O____o

Perhaps another has to do with East Slavs ALL being significantly Mongol/Hunnic influenced.

I could probably go on, but this is a thread, not a personal blog-post.

Whatchoo' got?

When they pull out some random Gedmatch kit of some random bones from a billion years ago and try to claim that this person was of your ethnicity even when your ethnicity wasn't even genetically formed yet.

The myth that I2a-Din is some kind of Paleo-Balkanic haplogroup rather than brought there during Slavic expansion.

Norman DNA in Sicily.

It exists at extremely low levels, but autosomally is so low. You never see southern Italians on 23andme scoring French/German, Scandinavian, nor British/Irish, which means their North European is so low it can be subsumed into their "Italian" and "Greek" percentages. And if we are to believe such influences are substantial, then for southern Italians to be in the genetic place they are today, pre-Norman people there must have been like Cypriots or Moroccan Jews.

Ashkenazi are not practically identical to Sephardim because they do have significant East Euro (10 - 15%)

Levantines Greek Orthodox Christians are Ghassanids or Greeks. People keep throwing it around yet so far I haven't seen evidence of it.

10-15% will only pull the overall genetic "package" slightly northward. You are correct in that the 10-15% is probably "eastern euro", but regardless, it's minor enough that one can look at Ashkenazim and say that they are "practically" or perhaps borderline identical.

While it is clear they are not Greeks at all, it is likely they do have some Ghassanid admixture.
