He says his grandmother had a hungarian last name but that she wasnt 100 percent hungarian for sure, she was most likely slovenian with just a hungarian last name idk. He looks kind of different, id say serbian.

But I think their similarity is older than that, because they are similar people from time of Slavic migrations, just part of them was under Caranthania/German rule, and rest of them came under Croatian rule.

Yes! They have lot of -ec and -ac finishing surnames, and much less on-ić. These kind of suffix typical for all Kajkavian speakers so not only Zagorje, but when you see it in 90% of cases person is from north of Sava river. :)
