You're lucky you got away with your money and luggage intact. Undoubtedly, this experience will lull you into a sense of calm and good-will towards these locals where later, you will be beaten and robbed somewhere far away from the security of an International airport.

My advice is if it looks rough, run-down and brown, don't stop.
