View Full Version : Guanche ancestry in Gedmatch
Hej everyone, I wonder for a friend of mine if by any chance there is a calc in Gedmatch with Guanche pop samples ? Does it exist or is it way too old and rare to be isolated ?

They are too old and most calculators don’t even have a Canarian reference only MDLP and I think PuntDNAL do.
Anyway it’s thought that Saharawi’s are the closet population to the Guanches.

No, they were closest to North Moroccans.

Anyway it’s thought that Saharawi’s are the closet population to the Guanches.Guanches were not like Saharawis, they were more EEF shifted. Examples of Guanches from Gedmatch put them close to North Moroccans, or like European shifted Mozabites or European shifted Saharawis or such. Even in an oracle showing Saharawi, you can see they are European shifted from Saharawis:
Primary Population (source) Secondary Population (source) Distance
1 70.5% Saharawi ( ) + 29.5% Basque_French ( ) @ 7.69
2 70.2% Saharawi ( ) + 29.8% Basque_Spanish ( ) @ 7.94

What about these results?
Using 2 populations approximation:
1 50% Mozabite_Berber +50% Southwest_English @ 16.298668
Using 3 populations approximation:
1 50% French +25% North_Amerindian +25% Sardinian @ 11.718505
Using 4 populations approximation:
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
1 Mozabite_Berber + North_Amerindian + Southwest_English + Spanish_Cantabria @ 11.048926
2 French_Basque + Mozabite_Berber + North_Amerindian + Orcadian @ 11.087157
3 Mozabite_Berber + North_Amerindian + Orcadian + Spanish_Cantabria @ 11.092177
Thanks a lot everyone for answering.
I have found Guanche mummies kits thanks to Peterski but I can't use them on Gedmatch for the moment, it seems that's because of it's from Gedmatch genesis and my account only runs the basic one.
BTW my Canarian friend is scoring some Mozabite Berber on Eurogenes calc so I guess Guanches were closer to this ! They score a lot Mozabite Berber on the calc results I've read here : https://www.theapricity.com/forum/showthread.php?249916-Guanche-GEDmatch-results-(600-1150-AD)/page2
