To my experience, most Iberians and Canarians get along well, no problem and often they just see each other as countrymen. I know my community here in Louisiana is very pro-Spanish because we came here as Spanish soldiers to protect Spanish interests from the British. Even at our yearly fiesta, we gave both Canarians from the islands and Iberians from the peninsula to come join us in celebration as brothers and we all eat, dance and socialize with each other.

To my experience, most Iberians and Canarians get along well, no problem and often they just see each other as countrymen. I know my community here in Louisiana is very pro-Spanish because we came here as Spanish soldiers to protect Spanish interests from the British. Even at our yearly fiesta, we gave both Canarians from the islands and Iberians from the peninsula to come join us in celebration as brothers and we all eat, dance and socialize with each other.

You’re welcome. Yes, my results are very similar to yours. I see you are from the Azores and I think Canarians, Madeirans and Azorean people forming Macaronesia have very similar genomes and similar and connected histories. I’m on the lowest part of the Canarian cline for North African ancestry as my Iberian ancestry is in the highest percentile, but we range in percentages and some or more admixed with Guanche and others are less admixed such as myself. I seem to be around 87%-90% Iberian and 10%-13% Guanche depending on the calculator used. I’m also the highest Iberian/lowest North African among my family members tested. I can post two family members Gedmatch in comparison.

Your essentially on par with Western Iberians (Portuguese, Extremaduran and Western Andalusia)

On Dodecad K12b you score 7.51 Northwestern African on that calculator I score 7.91.Yes, that is true, to an extent but not completely. My North African component is comparable with the Portuguese, and a bit higher than Western Spaniards by a percent or two, whose is a bit higher than the rest of Spain by a percent or two. However, that component is not the only component to consider for North African admixture. There is also the Southwest Asian, East African and Sub-Saharan components to consider as well. For instance, on the K12b spreadsheet, an Algerian gets 34% North African component, 16% Southwest Asian, 6% East African and 7.5% Sub-Saharan. These other components need to be taken into consideration also. That’s why the oracle adds up the differences and applies them into mixed mode sharing.

For instance, Galicia has 5% for the North African component, but lacks in the other components. But the calculator gives me a mixed mode of 87% Galicia +13% Algerian.

The Canarians in the sample get 11.8 North African component in the Dodecad sample, which taken into consideration their other components, would get 20%-25% North African. My grandparent has 10.61% North African component in Dodecad, roughly 1/4 of that of Moroccans and on par with the Canarian sample that has 11.8.

Even looking at the result of a Canarian from Tenerife that you posted in a thread before, “North African component” is nearly half of that in the Canarian sample on 12b, but his Southwest Asian and Sub-Saharan contribution were still apparent. From what i have seen, Madeirans are roughly in between Azoreans and Canarians in terms of SSA admixture. The question is if it is North African or direct SSA admixture. The latter seems obviously much more probable, but i have played a little bit with the results of a Madeiran and he does seems to have some kind of Guanche like Northwestern African admixture.

With Gedrosia K3 I score around 6% SSA which is significantly higher than what I score with other calculators (less than 2% with MDLP World) which I found a little bit strange too, but I thought it might somehow be a better indicator for someone who wants to see SSA admixture since it isolates it completely from other populations. But it's a little quirky I guess.

From what i have seen, Madeirans are roughly in between Azoreans and Canarians in terms of SSA admixture. The question is if it is North African or direct SSA admixture. The latter seems obviously much more probable, but i have played a little bit with the results of a Madeiran and he does seems to have some kind of Guanche like Northwestern African admixture.

Azorean, Madeiran and Canarian usually score some small SSA percentage which is coming from our fractional Guanche admixture, which North Africans have a fraction of. Not really ...spaniards also brought some black slaves in those islands. Moreover madeira and the azores were not inhabited before Portugueses/spaniards reached them it's those spaniards that brought some guanches in these islands for working as slaves and a part of your NA component is from iberian settlers it's not exclusively from guanches.
