Sofia. Bulgaria’s Schengen accession is not only our wish. Even now the country is better than some Schengen states and it would be a model, Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov said at a press conference, cited by FOCUS News Agency.
He added Bulgaria wanted to join the Schengen Area to help the EU with the inflow of refugees, besides facilitating Bulgarian citizens.
Each statement of the French interior minister in Europe about Schengen becomes here a main piece of news or criticism of the government, said Borisov.
France believes Bulgaria has a place in the visa-free area.
Schengen entry entails meeting some technical requirements and tackling crime and corruption. We will try to take advantage of the weeks ahead to discuss these requirements, said French Interior Minister Claude Guéant.
I do not doubt Bulgaria’s determination to live up to the requirements, he said further.
