This is believed to be a picture of Stalin's father, who seems to be an ethnic Ossetian.
Would he fit better as Turk, Kurd or Iranian?

I think they have Iranid + turanid influences, rather than looking Georgian.

According to a test on Stalin's grandson they belong to G2a1a, which seems typical for Ossetians.

Yes something Iranid, althought he got unusually small eyes. But when you look at photos at ossetians you see that a lot of them seem to have some "turanid"/central asian influence.
