I have wide hips but I'm very thin. She has wide hips, but she is a bit thick.
A happy medium would be perfect.
I think the shape of girl number five is nice, but I dislike muscular types.

I find that the shape of the face directly corresponds to body type in some cases. Girls with heart-shaped faces and large eyes generally have the #2 type bodies.

I like type 1 the most. It's not a very suitable example as Claire Danes was at the edge of anorexia at the time but I don't like too wide hips or large busts. Add some more kilos to pic 1 and it's great. I go for the petite type as I'm rather thin without much prominent curves myself.

To tell the truth I like them all and they're all beautiful. Any guy would date any of them and be content. But bodies are variable and can change so I'll critique that.

#2 seems the most overall balanced athletic looking to me (she has a very VERY strong core- I'm sure she does lots of strength training targeting her lower back, stomach, hip muscles upper thighs and that other upper leg muscle and butt, and fast running training- I'm sure). The overall impression is that she looks like she could run really fast! Her chest seems a little weak but I wouldn't want her to change anything about her.

#5 looks the strongest. Like a professional volleyball player with too much upper body strength that dominates her core and lower body.

#6 looks like a model that needs more muscle with strength training (she maybe cheated with breast implants).

#1 should gain more muscle and a little fat. Definitely she under eats and doesn't intake enough calories to maintain any muscle and fat. It doesn't look healthy. She needs to start eating sufficient calories and strength training to gain muscle and fat- then once she reaches a healthy level she should start cardio training.

#4 seems like the perfect hour glass figure. She eats enough calories and has great muscle and fat levels.

#3 and #6 have basically the same body type so you might as well combine them. (that's the impression I get at least) Just chest size differs a little and #3 has a little more muscle.

I picked the pear shaped #2 as my favorite type. She seems very natural and very healthy. She doesn't look forced through strength training like #5 but has done enough to give her a powerful core. I'm sure she could outrun them all.

I thought that what makes someone a pear is that fact that the upper body is noticeably smaller than the lower body. Hewitt looks like an hourglass to me. When she was young and skinnier, her boobs seemed rather big. To be a pear your boobs should be relatively smaller than your hip area. She is not an "original" pear. She turned pearish after gaining weight whereas real pears are even pears when they are skinny.

Maybe you're right, although well distributed body fat (Im not talking just about chest and butt) is really attractive on a woman. And what to say about hips? Obv the lot of us which voted #2 find oversized hips without subsequent top torso + breasts correlation really attractive (what an effort to avoid fruit metaphore:D), although, at same time, we would agree is not much of a canonical figure for a woman (at least at historical times).

The reason I like pear-shaped bodies is that they embody two essential qualities of feminity:
- fragility (upper part of the body)
- fertility (lower part of the body)
The end product is an insanely attractive individual.

It is surprising to me to see that so many men on here have gone for #2. Personally, really wide hips relative to a small upper half just looks too disproportionate...and not very athletic. I explained my bias in the post you quoted. Personally, I find wide asses to be gross..but I'm not a dude:) The same women who are praised for having wide hips are often those who become fattest as they hit middle age. My husband's ex wife looks MUCH fatter than I ever will (she is two years younger than I am) largely because of the way her fat is distributed now...which is disproportionately around her ass, thighs, stomach, and hips. At least when a person like Jessical Biel gains weight, she's likely to remain proportional...and that's one of the reasons her body looks best...she looks the healthiest of all of them.

Oh, and the width of the actual hips is not the most significant predictor of the woman's ability to bear children...it is the size and shape of her pelvic inlet, as well as the ability of the pelvis to relax during the birthing process...and of the baby's head to mold during the birth itself. Thus, there is more to the process than just the size and shape of her hips.
