Too early in human history to ask such questions. Generalized cosmology is one of the scientific fields, in which we know next to nothing at this point. 'Physics', which deals with such stuff has more common with mathematics than with the rest of physics. My friend's PhD disertation was related to such stuff. And guess what, his field of interest is differential geometry, not physics. I have kind of sifted through his work and it was barely different from an article about some purely mathematical stuff unrelated to physics. My own field is related to physics and I don't even properly understand the motivation behind it. It is simply not needed though.
