Dont pay too much attention to high k calculators. They can be very erratic.

That's what petalpusher said. K20 tops

Well Global 25 is pretty great and probably the best. Otherwise, as far as Eurogenes go, I agree - K15 is my favourite of those. But Lukasz K36 report is neat because he has so many references to compare you with

Check this - https://www.slavorum.org/slavic-fortress-in-morocco-poles-in-search-of-the-ancient-african-secret/amp/

Also Vandal admixture is a possible explanation.

At Max Planck's they are now using high K calculators in statistics courses for their genetics students.

The old opinion that low K is better is obsolete now.

It's really weird; I've tested more than 30 north african kits now : I'm the only one to get Central Euro in K36.

And thanks for the link; really interesting. Never knew that there were slaves in the Rif region; let alone slavic slaves....

Barbary slaves possibly or Vandals and Alans

I agree it’s ’s possible you could descend from people from Central Europe that accompanied the Vandals and Alans to North Africa Morocco?

My parents were born in some of these hovels, most people in my tribe are still illiterate; I don't think there were Barbary slaves over there.. :icon_lol:

These small "Northern/Central European" % are, for a reason I ignore, very frequent among Riffians and their neighbors. You are not the only one and am myself concerned by it (score some Northern European % there and there but not in all calcs + very unusual MTdna). I am from NorthWestern Algeria, Tlemcen and I cluster very close (if not the same) to Riffians genetically speaking.

Different hypothesis :
- geographical proximity to Iberian peninsula/Europe
- Distant European ancestors not necessiraly Vandals or NorthEuropeans, they could be Iberians with a "northern-european affinity" (which would make more sense for the region)
- the most eccentric but who knows possible option : Vandals invasion? not entirely convinced

Don't know if it makes sense to you, on peut en parler en français si tu veux ;-)

But have you ever seen another maghrebi scoring central euro on k36?

No, it's definitely unusual, you surely have a Euro ancestor but some "northern euro" elements occurs from time to time among Riffians from what I noticed
