A French from Alsatia or even Lorraine is very close to Germans. A French from southeast France close to Italians since the area has been settled by Greeks and Romans and the southwest France is definitely close to Iberia and especially Catalonia not only in genetic but also in cultural terms. A French from central France has about the same closeness to these populations.

Germans are closer on average. Southern French are closest to Spaniards.

The French are not homogenous, the answer will depend on where the reference is drawn from, but most are closer to Germans. Regardless, Italians come last maybe except for Aostans, but they are a small minority

Aostans definitely look different from Italians. If you look in old pigmentation maps, they are as light as Germans from South Tyrol. Like latter, most are brunettes (light skinned brown haired brown eyed Central Euro style) with a significant minority of blondes:
