Ruins of the Caroni Missions

Ruins consolidated the mission of the Immaculate Conception of the Caroni of the Capuchin friars of the eighteenth century Catalan. Dominating the tribes in the region, the missionaries organized a vast network of missions and haciendas, created an agricultural empire that, being taken by the Patriots in 1817, allowed the supply of the army of liberation and the subsequent victories of Boyaca and Carabobo. In the churchyard is a monument erected in honor of the Capuchin Fathers of the order of evangelization in Guyana.

I cant see them from my house. They are located on the other side of the river, which is mostly inhabitated. Cool place to visit and for taking a swim. :thumb001:

That arrow is pointing towards the location of the Caroni Missions on the other side of the lake.
