If you take a hard core ( stereotypical, leaning towards Southern China) Chinese phenotype it will look something like this

You are asian, so you know more than me about it. When I imagine chinese people, something like Mao Tse Tung is what come in mind:

Eastern kazakhs are mongols.
The most ancient Turkic runes of 7-8 century are situated in the center of Mongolia on Orkhon river. Which indicates that Kazakhs moved from Mongolia as Turkic speaking population.

The Orkhon inscriptions (Turkish: Orhun Yazıtları, Azerbaijani: Orxon-Yenisey abidəsi, Turkmen: Orhon ýazgylary), also known as Orhon Inscriptions, Orhun Inscriptions, Khöshöö Tsaidam monuments, or Kul Tigin steles (simplified Chinese: 阙特勤碑; traditional Chinese: 闕特勤碑), are two memorial installations erected by the Göktürks written in Old Turkic alphabet in the early 8th century in the Orkhon Valley in Mongolia. They were erected in honor of two Turkic princes, Kul Tigin and his brother Bilge Khagan.[1]
The inscriptions, in both Chinese and Old Turkic, relate the legendary origins of the Turks, the golden age of their history, their subjugation by the Chinese, and their liberation by Ilterish Qaghan. In fact, according to one source, the inscriptions contain "rhythmic and parallelistic passages" that resemble that of epics.
Orkhon Turkic runes describe fights with Chinese and generally very close interaction with them which indicates that original Turks lived in a close proximity to Chinese.
At that time territory of Kazakhstan was unreachable for Chinese. Which means that original Turks lived to the East near border with Chinese.
