She was voted for... must have been a lot of people with jungle fever who watched Melodi Grand Prix this year.

I like Italy's song by far the most. In fact, this is the only Eurovision song in years to please my ears.

I used to like this contest when all countries sent someone singing in a language of the country with something representative of their folklore. This year almost all songs are in English and they all sound pretty much the same...
My favourite -though I haven't listened to them all- is by far the French one: a classy in crescendo in Corsican. (It's funny that France has sent songs in Breton and Corsican to the contest while Spain keeps sending shit and only in Castilian. Quite symptomatic.)

Well there was a folkish tune in the Norwegian contest, but sadly it didn't win...

My girlfriend wished to watch it with me, otherwise I would have passed. Since I've seen it, I can also comment on it.
If it was only about sexiness, Slovenia deserved the title.
But let’s not forget this is a music contest and it's not about doing neighbours a favour. At least most (eastern) nations participating seem to confuse this!
If the quality of the music really counted, Germany and France would have been on top, but Europeans and wannabe-Europeans seem to have no taste.
Anyway the Muslims won this contest once more. Previously Turkey cumulated all Muslim immigrant votes, but this time it was Azerbaijan as the only Muslim country in the contest.

My theory is: it was held in Germany. Since Turkey couldn't win because it wasn't there, the votes went to the other Turkish country. :D
What's obvious is that it's all about neighbor voting. We, countries of the Latin corner of Europe, are never going to win this contest again, because we don't have enough neighbours.

I don't watch this pathetic show, nor have I heard of it till this day, but I think that if they include piece of shit arab cesspits like Arabbaijan, they should include every other country in the world. They should rename the show to No-Euros-vision.

Just a link to a long but interesting article about how Eurovision is now more interesting from the statistical POV, with all its noticeable bloc voting since the middle 90's (the Viking Empire, the Eastern block...), and whether the outcomes are actually much more predictable or not.

This was the most hostile audience in the history of Eurovision. Malaka Germans acted like football hooligans in a kitschy song contest.

I hope we once and for all step out of this crap of a contest.

The playing of the Portuguese entry for the 1974 contest was the signal for a coup in that country. But that particular competition is much more famous for having been won by ABBA with Waterloo.
