I saw a news article once about a cow in Wales that was terminally ill. Veterinarians were called to end the cow's life by putting the dying cow out of pain, and vets were asked to humanely put the cow to sleep and rest.

But an Indian Hindu community living in the area protested and they surrounded the cow in order to prevent him from being given a humane injection to end the cow's suffering and pain and put him to sleep.

In the end the local authorities in Wales decided to respect the wishes of the Hindu community due to the protests about the dying cow. I think the vets gave the dying cow pain relief medication instead.
