How is Ireland so low? I guess it's due to the small population.

According to the statistics Sardinians drink beer more than double of Italians. The average Sardinian drinks 61,7 lt of beer per year vs the average 30lt per year of Italians.
It seems that the relationship of Sardinians with beer is very ancient, dating back to the Nuragic age, over 3500 years ago. In fact in archaeological excavations in Sardinia have been found ancient containers and vases showing traces of beer inside.

Surprised that Spain is above Poland in this ranking.
It might be because Spain's population is a bit more than Poland's.
