I think Coon had only a better contact with this type among armenians, but didn't know better the Levant population.

Possibly yes. Armenoid is also very occurrent in gypsies, they may acquired it when they crossed Iran, Armenia and (bizantine and after turk) Anatolia.

Some authors claim Armenoid is phenotype suited to urban lifestyle, what makes sense if you think jews and gypsies generally live as entertainers, craftworkers, merchants and other business into cities.
