Is it racist to put certain people above others depending on their race? Or is being racist simply hating other races?

Who cares? "Racism" is a meaningless word. You should never be concerned about being "racist."

Yes, this is the definition of racism. I don't think this is an actual problem tho, people are so weak and insecure today that the right of free-association itself has become offensive. You don't have to get along with a person of other ethnicity if you don't want to.

I'm not talking about me, I have many non-white friends. I just thought the definition of racist was "hate of someone based on their race".

Depends on if it's a personal preference, to date or socialize with, or if it's on a larger scale.
