The red component peaks in Saudis and Palestinians and you can see its presence amongst all the Southern Europeans here, with Cyprus having the most, Sicilians and Calabrians next, and then Spain.

What is interesting is even Sardinia shows a bit of it -- could this finally be the Phoenician input in Sardinia? Also notice the relative absence of this component in mainland Greek and Albanian clusters, and almost none in Balkan Slavs or North Italians.

That would explain all the OWD cases. Take a look at the most recent case, Raoul Albiol. Even without an Arab headcover he looks like one. Put one on him and people would think he belongs to Osama Bin Laden's tribe or something like that.

Ok but there is a distinction between Berber and Levantine or Arabian ancestry

Right?

When you mean Cyprus has the most you are talking about Levantine or Arabian ancestry
Right?

I have read once that the native ancient population in some parts of Iberia were Berber like people
but its kinda difficult to know how many of them remained there and melted in or how much of their legacy exists in
Spaniards today

When shaved he looks quite Iberian to me. Med pigmentation- Yes, but he doesn't look Arab. And trust me, I see Arabs on daily basis.

When shaved, yes. But he did look quite middle eastern in the pictures posted on the thread.

Probably cherrypicked photos. He has Iberian facial features. Wouldn't pass in the levant.

Would he pass as Jew?

Atypically yes, as Sephardic only.

I'm specifically talking about the pictures posted on his thread. I didn't google him up so I only looked at the thread pictures.

French, Italy, Bulgaria and Romania have more Arabian admixture, than Georgians and north Caucasians. Very interesting.

The red component looks to me like some sort of porto-Afroasiatic component peaking in the southern Levant and Arabian Peninsula. It looks to be about 25% in Cyprus, 20% in Sicily, and then some amount in Crete, Spain, Dodecanese, and Sardinia and then only traces in the rest of Europe. This component is what makes some Sicilians, Cypriots look "exotic".

But Spain has it too! If Portugal was sampled it'd be higher there than in Spain.
