My parents are 3rd degree cousins, and both had the same surname before marrying.

interesting, my parents share the same surname too (my mother's maternal surname in fact), and share two others, but they aren't closely related, my mother has origins in northeast and my father south, so their possible connection would be very far off, still didn't see it through my genealogical research. But as for you don't worry, third cousins are distant, you're fine.

Can someone help me to find out the origin of the surname McIlhinney? It's from Northern Ireland. I am not sure if it's an original Ulster-Irish surname or an scottish surname. According to House of Names it's (Highland-) Scottish and means "the son of the servant Storm." but according to Forebears.io it's irish and means "son of the servant of Kenneth."
Thanks.

He came to Hungary to find work. He never married my great-grandmother and I don't know much about him.
