As a man, do you ''respect'' other army's officers more than just a normal solders, or same ways?

LOL. His business career....

Shortly:
He born in Ähtäri Finland. Passed school (first classes) in Jyväskylä Finland. Left 7 years army cadet school Hamina Finland 1890. He actually denied to join Russian's elite unit/company 1900-1901 and re-signed from army by then.

YUP...he moved to pulp and paper business (his first positions was actually in St. Petersburg ...in Russian company) ... when couple of years later he moved back to Finland ... he created in Finland (between WW I and WWII and after WWII) ...one of the biggest company in that business area in whole Europe.

Give a respect where it belongs ... to him (and him alone) and not Russia/Russians!

No disrespect to this man, i'm pretty shure it took a lot of skill to make such a business, but i can't help but notice how promitent among finnish nationalists were Swedes and i actually read the memoirs of Mannerheim. And from what i've read he was more than happy to be a loyal solider of the Czar. Only after the start of revolution he decided to choose Finnish identity, as he foreseen the fall of white movement in Russia.

Not that i blame him for that, but he's painted as a fierce nationalist too much, compared to a pragmatic man he was, which is understandable as you can't just have a Germano-Swede with 30 years past as a Russian general, you have to improve image a bit.

1. It was Saint-Petersburg.

2. Why would you even assume that i can make a mistake in history of my own city?

3. Either way it doesn't really matter, a rose by any other name would smell as sweet.

Yup ... Mannerheim valued Tsar's time Russia. He left from Russia only as Bolsheviks had re-signed him (saying: there is no use for man like him anymore, and he is not anymore welcomed... a living ''ghost of old days''). He returned to Finland. Yes...for him Russia died together with Romanovs. But we have to keep in minds...he spent 30 years in Russia.

Competent officers are respected by everyone, both by their own people and by their enemies. At least because of the amount of knowledge and skills in their head.

Before I registered here, I knew about the existence of only one Finnish Swede, with the help of his invention I earn money;). Guess who?

I thought it was quite a simple question). Perhaps Linus Torvalds is the most famous Finnish Swede in the world and just a good person. It is not known what will happen with Linux after he retires.
I also know Tove Jansson, Soviet cartoons about Moomin trolls were popular in the 80s-90s in Russia.

Actually he was Finnish speaking. It is a fact that he got send to military academy because he failed in his Swedish studies. His mother was actual ethnic Swede from Sweden, and the daughter of Swedish poet and soldier Gustaf Sommelius https://fi.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gustaf_Lorentz_Sommelius

I am distantly related to this guy. My grandmother was a Walden.

Walden's family has perfectly Finnish origins. First "Walden" was the son of poor pesant from Tavastia who got himself educated and then took that name "Walden".

There might have been few, but first Walden was the son of Jooseppi Joosepinpoika, who was a torppari (rental farmer) and miller from Akaa.

https://www.geni.com/people/Torppari-Josef-Josefinpoika/6000000020027709523

They were also speculating in your link that the mother might have been of the Kurki family https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kurki_of_Laukko but looks much more likely she was just a maid at the house of Kurki.

He still was a result of all his ancestors (like any of us), not only from one who took the family name ''Walden'' ... and honestly calling him anything else than Finnish Swede .... would be pure jive talks.
