Means mix of native Balkan and Roman settler DNA. All SE Europeans are partly Vlach in significant amount. Romanians on average are pred. Vlach, with significant Slavic and very minor Turkic input (that more depends on region I think)

I just don't care enough about who is lighter and darker because there are far more interesting aspects of European cultural. Maybe that is the American in me. I would concede that Romanians are darker than SSAs if it meant moving on to a better topic.

I never understand why people tend to specify the ethnicity/nationality of the criminals.. of course for the journalist it's important because they always put an "impact" title. For the countries it's important too, for statistical reasons..but for normal people it's not necessary to know where those criminals were born or which citiezenship they have.

Western europeans tends to do less violent acts not because are better people, but because tends to have a better educational and living conditions. It's all determinated by eduaction and living "medium".

Because they are darker and genetically far more distant to northern Slavs. Having been to Romania and knowing genetics I am pretty annoyed when you try to northwash people like Romanians.

Geography isn't always everything. There's a sharp contrast between Romania and Ukraine, one of the sharpest in Europe, actually. Being neighbors/sharing a border doesn't mean anything.

Sorry, just saw your response. I do agree that Romanians don't look like NE Slav if that is the issue. People waste too much time on "who is lighter" when phenotypes are far better predictors of ethnicity. Hell, my Irish grandfather had darker skin than my Romanian grandpa despite being far more north shifted.

And not just me, i showed my friends and my boyfriend some romanian actresses and singers and they said they looked Ukrainian or russian too.

I know im not the best representation since im mixed, but i feel like romanians try way too hard to feel different, unique and not like the others. They dont wanna be called slavic nor balkan, i never understand what they want.
