So I am new to the whole DNA testing and I've recently received my results from myheritageDNA.
Unfortunately, it seems myheritageDNA does not tell you what your y-dna is so I uploaded my raw data to morleydna.com which claims to predicts your haplogroup.
The result that I got from morleydna is haplogroup IJ M429. It doesn't seem to be a common haplogroup although it is the ancestor of I and J (according to the limited info I found online). My ethnic background is Assyrian and from what I found haplogroup IJ does seem to originate from around that area.
So my question is.. how accurate are the results of morleydna.com ? Is it worth getting a proper test to get the y-dna ? If so, which company do you guys recommend?

IJ stayed in the Paleolithic. I think this is untyped J

I'm not sure if that is the case. Here is a quote from online sources: "Examples of the basal/paragroup Haplogroup IJ* (M429) were first reported in a 2012 study of genetic diversity in Iran, by Grugni et al."

Hi I wouldn't trust morley fully, it's good for telling you y our basic haplogroup, I, E, J, etc, but not good for clades. I am I2, ancestrydata and 23andme data both give me seperate clades on morley uploads. I would suggest FTDNA y dna test to learn your subclade, and find paternal matches so you can trace your origin better.
https://www.familytreedna.com/products/y-dna
Scroll down to the bottom, there is y-37, 67, 111 or big Y, any of them would be good for you, depending on how indepth you want to take this.

In my case morley estimation was right. It predicted the same sub-subclade as 23andme did.

It just depends on the case I think, best way to find out if one is interested is to take an FTDNA Y dna test.

mine appeared automatically on Gedmatch and it is the same that Morley predicted.

How come it appeared automatically?

go to 'One-to-many' matches, enter your kit number and press Display results. Then press on L (List) of one of your matches and you will see yourself in their list of matches. In my case, Y-DNA was calculated and appeared on that list.

No, it doesn't show any info other than that I listed myself.

So it was not possible to calculate your Y-DNA from the raw data file that was uploaded.

It can't calculate it at all. I've tried a few other kits - nothing.

Guys, predictors are just what their name states. They predict. You may even be a new unknown subclade. You have to test, sometimes extensively if knowing your subclade is important for you, you cannot cheap out on it unfortunately.

Not so interested in finding out exact subclade and it is too expensive.
But I am interested in mtDNA full sequence result.

Most likely J. In Assyrian's cases well J1 seems to be quite dominant, in some areas it peaks up to 44%.

Well here is a screenshot of the morleyDNA results. I have ordered a y-37 DNA kit from familytreeDNA to see what results I get.

Interesting. Which raw data did you use?

I used the raw data from "Myheritage DNA".

or maybe I wrote it in when I was uploading my raw data and simply do not remember that I did it? :icon_lol:
