So it seems I got my Y111 results early (still waiting on the Big-Y results). My haplogroup is the R-M269.
Ftdna give me ancenstral origin matches only at the 12 (no matches at 25,37,67,111) marker with:
England - 1
Italy - 1
Poland - 1
Scotland - 1
USA - 2
I ran the results with nevgen and I got R1b Z2103>L584> PF7580 as a result at 90.3% probability.
I have to say, I am a bit baffled with the results. Anyone else familiar with that subclade that can shed some light into it?
Unfortunately, my Big-Y will take a few more months so I have to settle with this.
That's too bad. 12 maker matches don't mean much except that they're ancient matches. You need to join various R1b groups at ftdna to see if an admin can assign you to a specific subclade.

Yeah, I've joined the main R1b and I'll see what happens from there.

R-PF7580 seems to have a link to the Hittites or other Anatolian speakers, it seems to be concentrated in certain areas of Turkey as well as it having a formation age of 3,000-5,000ybp. R1b-L584 in general seems to be concentrated in west Asia, many L584 clades are concentrated in Armenia and so it could be also linked to Armenian speakers. I have seen Greeks come under L584 though they may have been Pontic Greeks as they matched a Greek from Georgia.

My paternal side is from Northern Thrace is Bulgaria and afaik they are not Pontic Greeks. Does that make sense? I was speculating that they were from Epirus but I am not sure anymore.

I just checked and those L584 Greeks should be under PF7580/FGC14590 as well. 2 of them were from the mainland, Trikala and Euboea, and 1 other was a Pontic Greek. In Greece this group may have arrived with IE speakers who would later move into west Asia, though it could also be from ancient contact with Anatolia or the settlement of groups such as Armenians into the Balkans by the Romans. https://www.yfull.com/tree/R-FGC14590/

Trikala rings a bell. According to the narrative of a historian, the villagers of Ortakioi were either from Epirus or Velestino or Trikala. So there might be a connection, thanks so much for this info!

This article links the z2103 to eastern Yamna paleobalkan populations of either proto-Iranians or Thracians.

So I ran the numbers again in nevgen, just to double check and I got the following results this time:
R1b Z2103>L584> PF7580 at 27.1% and unknown subclade at 72.9% probability?
Like wtf?

Update:
A R1b-basal-clade group admin in FTDNA replied to a question of mine and told me that he's almost certain that my SNP/STR combinations of R-M269 are never seen before and I am the first one with such results.
Should I be excited or not - almost certainly no matches even with the Big-Y results.
