I have just done Lukasz's chromosome analysis and someone has suggested this could be the source of my E haplogroup.

Those are South Tyrol in Northern Italy.

Are these near? My geography isn't the best.

This gets interesting. According to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charles_Henry_Gatty Gattys were originally Gatti from Insubria (Lombardy). Both Lombardy and South Tyrol are in Northern Italy.

Are you certain that you match this particular Gatty line through Big Y? Are any other Gatty lines found (of other haplogroups or branches) in the region of Cornwall? What's your TMRCA with Gatty?

There seems to be only one other Gatty who has tested their Ydna. He has not done Big Y. He has only done up to 37 markers . We are a GD of 2.

Yes,you did. I have no reason to doubt you. The interesting question is how my Gattys ended up in Cornwall. I can't link my branch to there as I only trace back to a 4gt married at Liverpool in 1810. However (a) This is where the Gattys were first seen in England circa late 15th c (b) My father has an autosomal match to someone with a female Gatty relative from Cornwall born 1703/4.
