The majority of South Italians (Sicilians included) fit the rest of Italy and other various European countries. Then there are always those few "exotic" types than deceive people and don't seem to look Italian due to their excessive exotic features. But are a minority.

Genotypes doesn't equal phenotypes, otherwise that would be simple, everyone's who score almost 100% European origin would enter in the same category, which is not the case.
Even a infinitesimal variation can change how you look like. You got many example on here, MysteriousWays Jewish who looks fully Euro, that girl from NC who scored 95% Euro and looks Moroccan etc.

To business, as a group they pass in: Sardinia, Central Italy, Malta, Sephardi Jews, Greece, Iberia, Turkey, Cyprus, Syria/Lebanon, Mizrahi Jews, and Coastal Maghreb (not the countryside).

As Individuals they could go even further to South Balkans some few persons can be mistaken for Assyrians or Kurds.

Why they don't think the genetic reality is reflected phenotypically I don't know. Saying genes and appearance don't match is a way of denying what people can't accept.

To me it's other Italians, Jews, and Aegean Greeks first. Then Cyprus/Levant/etc and South Balkans. Genetically Iberia isn't even in the same range, Iberia is like South France mixed with North African.

It is simple as is. Take a trip to South Italy or Sicily (if you can afford it) and you'll see by yourself.

If what you're asking is where the range and commonness of Sicillian phenotypes fit best I would say Sephardi Jews, Greeks and other Med Islanders (Crete, Cyprus, etc).
Individual Sicillians can fit in over half of the countries above.

The closest genetically (outside of Italy) are Aegean islands like Crete and the Dodecanese which is well known but also Jews, Cypriots, and far southern Peloponnese so I think this is consistent with your statement. Then you have the West Asians and whatnot.
