Hi everyone, my father's y haplogroup is G-S2808. I have tried to determine which migration to England his ancestors may have belonged to but have been unsuccessful. Any ideas?

British Neolithic farmers were genetically similar to Neolithic Iberians, who carried Y haplogroups such as I2a and G2, suggesting that a portion of the farmer ancestry in Britain came from the Mediterranean rather than the Danubian route of farming expansion. The ancestry of the Neolithic farmers of Britain was derived from migrants who spread along the Atlantic coast. G-S2808 is a subclade of G2a and I guess it is a genetic signature of Neolithic farmer ancestry.
We determined Y-chromosome haplogroups for the 54 male Beaker-associated individuals (Supplementary Table 3). Individuals from the Iberian Peninsula carried Y haplogroups known to be common across Europe during the earlier Neolithic period2,4,20,26,32,39, such as I2a (n=3) and G2 (n=1) (Supplementary Table 3). In contrast, Beaker-associated individuals outside Iberia (n=44) largely carried R1b lineages (84%), associated with the arrival of Steppe migrants in central Europe during the Late Neolithic/Early Bronze Age2,3.

Like the rest of europe. Argiciltute started at near east(anatolia/levant). The farmers were mostly g2a And they mixed with the mesolithic europeans who were mostly I1 or I2. This Why you are some Brits being dark And look more meditteranid Like Mr.Bean, Orlando Bloom, Victoria Beckam etc.

Ah, so his ancestors would have been part of the Bell Beaker culture? Before migrating to Britain?

This makes sense as his father's side all have very dark hair. So to learn more about the culture his ancestors belonged to, I should research Neolithic farmers and their migration into the UK?
Roman soldiers brought it there.

These links are good for a start. For more informations visiit anthrogenica.Modern Brits are mostly mesolithic/neolithic and bell beakers. They got some admixture also from medieval germanic invaders.Among phenotypes you can see some med influenced people like the names that i mention above. Some phenotypes of mixed germanic and celtic like Margaret Thatcher or Princes Dianna etc.And there are phenotypes more scandinavian looking probably from danelaw like the singer of Police STIGS or Jude Law.
Your father has an interesting subclade

Those are awesome references, thank you! It looks like G2a was everywhere through the early southern European cultures. I'm still reading through it but a lot of good info, thank you.

S2808 looks like it was absorbed by Indo-European people at some point, so I think that Celtic or Germanic origins are possible.
I don't think it was really Roman or let's say - Italic.
Just one sample is labeled as Italian, no Sardinians among them but we see various countries where Celts were present (aside Swedish cluster descending from two Bure brothers who were swedish nobles (https://www.yfull.com/tree/G-Z30729/). One of their ancestors could have been migrant from mainland Europe though.
