You tend to call Pontid and Slavic looking Central and North Italians and single out "Italian look" just for South Italy so it's hard to get who you are referring to when talking of Italians.

All the Italians I know, both Italian born and Italian American are southerners. My family, when I was a kid only knew southern Italians, no one in my family apart from my father had ever been with a non-southern Italian, so my point of reference is Italian Americans of southern descent.
